Maria Innocentia Hummel spent a lot of time in prayer and pens religious writings and poems and she became a very accomplished and well-known artist. Born in Spain, Hummel enjoyed a life of service to the Roman Catholic Church and spent much of her early years in the Netherlands. After leaving the Church, she pursued a teaching career and became a practicing Catholic. After a ten-year absence from the pulpit, she returned to paint, which is where her talent for figurine art developed. A true artist, Hummel worked until she was eighty-one years old and even after that she continued to work diligently to keep her body of art thriving.
